3. What we collect
KakapoArcade collects minimal information by design. What we do gather falls into three distinct categories.
3.1 Contact form submissions
When you send us a message through the contact form or by email, we receive:
- the name you have given us;
- your email address;
- the content of your message.
3.2 Technical server logs
For the site to operate, our server may temporarily log:
- your IP address in a shortened form;
- the browser type and version;
- your operating system;
- the time of the visit and the page you viewed.
We keep this information solely for security, deleting it within 14 days and never connecting it to identifying personal data.
3.3 Cookies

4. Purposes and lawful basis for processing
We process personal information for the following purposes and on the following bases under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 and the OPC’s Information Privacy Principles (IPPs):
- Responding to enquiries: we process the information you provide to answer your message (IPP 1, IPP 10).
- Site operation: server logs are processed to maintain the security and integrity of the website (legitimate interest, IPP 5).
- Optional cookies: we use analytics and marketing cookies only when you've given your consent (IPP 3, IPP 10).
- Legal compliance: we may process your information to fulfil statutory obligations or comply with court orders (IPP 11).
5. Retention
- Contact correspondence is kept for up to 12 months, though we may retain it longer if the nature of the exchange requires it.
- Server logs: no more than 14 days.

Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised at the end of its retention period.
6. Who can access your information
KakapoArcade will not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share or process it under these circumstances:

The site’s primary technical environment is in Australia/New Zealand. - **Correction (IPP 7):** the right to have inaccurate information corrected.
- **Erasure:** in certain situations, the right to have your information removed.
- **Restriction:** in certain circumstances, your right to restrict processing.
- Portability: the right to receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
- The entitlement to contest processing undertaken on the foundation of legitimate interest.
- Withdrawal of consent: if processing relies on your consent (for example, cookies), you can withdraw it at any time you choose.

10. Security
Kakapo Arcade protects your data with HTTPS encryption. Access to personal information is limited to staff members who need it for their work, and we maintain regular security updates throughout our operations.
11. Children
KakapoArcade operates exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from minors. If a parent or guardian discovers their child has submitted details, please contact us and we'll delete it immediately.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy should our practices or legal requirements alter. Any material changes will be highlighted on the site, with the most recent revision date shown at the page top.
